HOW OUR MARKET GOT STARTEDFor over a decade the Rome Farmers Market has been run by a dedicated group of volunteers who have given their time and talents to make the market what it is.
In winter 2008 Ruthann Spiegelhof was dreaming and gathering ideas. During a women's golf outing she had begun to imagine a local Farmers Market. Encouraged by Rick Antin, she and fellow founder Judy McCormick began to network and organize. By the following summer, six vendors were on board. The market would later be recognized by the Adams County Chamber of Commerce as the Best New Community Event. Later on these women would be joined by Kathy Buenger and the 3 would successfully organize the market into what it is today. These ladies looking onto the next adventure in their life teamed up with the Adams County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and asked if we would take over as managers of the market. The Chamber saw great potential in the market and the benefits that it has on the community and the businesses in the county. |
